Johnny Appleseed!

Click Here! to go see Fabulicious!

We are excited to be involved in our first Fabulicious Freebies!  We begin our year with the vowels so I thought you might enjoy a part of our "A" week unit.  Amazing Glyphs!
We love doing Glyphs- where we ask the children questions and they color, paint, glue, or place according to the answer they give.
Now I have to tell you.....when it comes to analyzing I have tried many different ways!!  However, by trial and error I have finally come up with a way that my little ones like AND DOES NOT drive me insane!!!!
We analyze data as a whole group.  I hand out the graph to each student, hang my copy on the board and walk around the room asking questions and graphing the answers.  Every few students we stop and see which question is winning, predict the winner.  The more animated I am, the more they stay focused....It works like a charm....let me know if you have another way that works, I would love to hear.
At Back To School Night I like to tell parents that we analyze data....They seem to love that!!
In our apple unit we have a Johnny Appleseed Glyph.  We thought you may enjoy it sooooo....
We put it on our TPT store for free!  You can pick it up HERE!

Dino to volcano

We are in our third week of Dino days. Friday is our big Grandparents Day Event. This week we made volcanos out of our old Play do, the students added the secret powder(baking Soda), a little squirt of dish soap, they chose what color lava they wanted and then they added the lava juice(vinegar). The kids loved it. We also made paper plate Dino's. I made a really cute bulletin board with it for our big event. I am also including our menu! Hope you all like it! We had a dinomite time!!

Western Round-Up

Happy Sunday!  Kim and I are getting ready to present thematic units to fellow teachers on Friday!  Wow!  Do I have a new appreciation for presenters.  I am amazed at how much work it is and what a blast it is!  The big thing is knowing when to stop..I think I could add new elements forever.  One of the units we are showcasing is our Western Round-Up where we collaborate with the other preschool teachers in our department.  We each take an element of a dude ranch and the kids travel from room to room dressed as cowboys and cowgirls and experience life on the range!  We have a rootin' tootin' good time!  Our unit spells out how we turn our rooms into thematic wonderlands and execute each element.
You can get our Western Round-Up Unit HERE!
Here is a preview of what you will get....
And what fun is it with no FREEBIE!!!

Happy New Year!

Hello everyone!!  Kim and I both took turns this last month being sick and nursing our families back to health.  There has been some wonderful things and very sad things in the month of December.  So I don't know about you, I am very excited for a new year!!!
This past month we created a great Christmas unit...we also created a parent packet for the parents to take home and work with their children over the break.  I can't wait to hear what the parents and kids thought.
I love trying new things out on the kids and seeing what works and what doesn't work.  My kids loved playing twister with the sight words and doing the alphabet match with a friend the best.
I hope you all had a wonderful New Years celebration!!  It is back to teaching on Monday....I can't wait to see the kids!
Our Christmas Extravaganza Unit can be viewed HERE!
We included a couple of freebies from the unit Here.

Bear Day!

Hi Everyone!
We just finished our "B" week during the week before thanksgiving and we had a BLAST!  We started the week off  with reviewing circles and making these adorable Bears to hang up in our classrrom! Then we had loads of fun with Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles! Our 3rd grade Reading Buddies decided to join us and we read our favorite bear books on our blankets. Next, we learned about different kinds of bears ( Brown bear, Black bear, and Polar bear) we even did a Preschool version of a Venn Diagram! We ended the week with our students bringing in their favorite stuffed bear, making home-made butter, and eating bear-shaped biscuits! We graphed the different types of bears that were brought in, and played Bingo with our teddy-bear manipulatives! We ended our week with the song "Teddy-bear, Teddy-bear Turn Around", and Dr. Jean's "Going On a Bear Hunt!" It was a very busy and blissful week!

Eating the bear biscuit and butter!
I love that they all turn out different!

Candy Corn Bingo!

Each week I like to reinforce skills on Fridays in a game form.  The last week of October we played Candy Corn Bingo.  We used candy corn as markers.  We had to begin by eating one candy of course, it is way too hard to wait!  We play in small groups of 6.  I always call the letter and then ask what sound that letter makes and for my emergent readers, I ask for a word that begins with that letter.  For some that still need help with recognition, I show the card and have them find it.  It is important that they repeat the name for me.  It is a great game for different levels of learners.  We play until everyone wins.  The student has to call "Candy Corn Bingo".  We also praise the winners.  I let each of them eat a few and put the rest in a baggie for home.

50th day freebie!

Thought it would be fun to add a freebie from our fifties sock hop packet!  We break up our students into groups of 3 or 4 kids and send them from center to center.  We give each of them a sticker chart and they put a sticker in the corresponding box when they have completed the center.  It is fun for the kids and a good visual for the parents to show what they did with their day.  Hope you enjoy!
